The concept of foundational training refers to training that covers most of what any student in a particular field in the helping professions must know. Programmes are all designed differently. They have different outcomes in mind and very few courses can cover and evaluate proficiency in every aspect there is to know about a helping profession. In part therefore after foundational programmes seek to either build on aspects already taught, they may introduce different topics not covered, or seek to fill some or other gap in the field that practitioners will find exist such as offering a space in which to experience ongoing community (since the helping profession is often a very lonely journey to make).

After foundational training

Sometime during the second year of the foundational programme (The Advanced certificate in Pastoral Narrative Therapy), students are made aware of the possibilities that exist for continuing their journey afterwards. The first two options represent options that Coram Deo can help with and is often taken together and known as the third year of studies at Coram Deo. The third option is to continue at the university. It is important that you get a sense of why you would like to continue on the journey. This page seeks to take you through some considerations.

Advancing with university studies

Communication about this line of inquiry must be directed at the university.
