About Faith in counselling
Many societies today honour the role that faith plays in our lives. People are however not sure how to draw on faith experiences and our relationship with God to use it in a practical way when helping people. Furthermore, many practices that people assume to be helpful can have a quite detrimental effect.
Working with faith in helping relationships are influenced by so many ways people think and practice their faith. We need to find respectful unassuming ways to work with faith that honours peoples belief without putting them in boxes or expect of them to believe in the way that we do as practitioners (counsellors, leaders, or anyone who is a believer).
For who is the course
- Pastoral counsellors, narrative therapists, counsellors, psychologists, coaches, mentors, leaders, managers, teachers, pastors;
- Anyone with an interest in exploring the role of faith in our human helping relationships, mainly in counselling but not exclusively.
- Those in the Coram Deo community registered for doing the annual CPD series or combined practitioner programme.

Note that participants may choose to do this programme as a Successfully completed course or an Attendance course. The successfully completed certificate issued by UP requires an additional reflective assignment. Your lecturer might substitute the assignment with an in-class assignment. The reflective assignment carries 3 additional CPD points with SignoPro.
Attendance certificates are awarded by the University of Pretoria Enterprises division and requires an additional fee of R400-R800 that is paid separately when required. This fee is waived for students enrolled for all the CPD modules (COP or CPD). For those enrolled for the full CPD series or the Combined Practitioner Supervision programme the certificate fees are included but a reflective assignment must be completed. Unfortunately it takes quite some time for UP to issue certificates but on our end your Coram Deo certificate confirms that you have completed the course.
