Families in transition
Families in transition is part of the portfolio of CDP, Coram Deo short courses. Although there is overlap it should not be confused with the related Coram Deo short course Introduction to Pastoral Family Therapy.
This course must be attended by annually enrolled Combined Practitioner programme students (third-year students), annually enrolled CPD students or interested members of the public (counsellors, psychologists and other helping-professions interested in families).

Hi, my name is Dr Elmo Pienaar I’m looking forward to spending time with you over the weekend in live Zoom class.

We’ll spend our time in the following way:

Session 2: 17:30-20:30
Saturday:
Session 3: 09:00-12:00 (reflection and check-in from 08:30)

We all know that people go through various stages of development throughout their lives. Similarly many refer to family development stages, a sort of linear / vertical progression.
Importantly for our time together: Families also go through horisontal shifts that can happen at any stage of development when families separate.
This course takes participants through this horisontal shift that families go through when the primary relationships break down. Then considerations of breakup, separation and divorce (especially considering children impacted) follow. Lastly the possibility of forming new partnerships where families constitute anew are looked it.
