Psychological and medical discourses in pastoral narrative therapy

Pastoral and particularly pastoral narrative therapists can make a valuable contribution as part of the multidisciplinary helping team. Still there seems to be confusion among professionals about the scope with which each profession enters the interdisciplinary context.

With the focus on  pastoral and ‘pastoral narrative’ therapists (i.e., counsellors) this series helps counsellors understand their role in mental healthcare. Similarly it eloquently explains the value of this profession to medical and psychology professionals not that familiar with the views of pastoral and narrative therapy.

Pastoral or community workers (example, clergy, youth work, social work) and Pastoral Narrative Therapists will learn about the common ideas and descriptions used by professionals when referring their clients or patients for counselling. Some of the tension among professions are discussed with the view of enhancing professional collaboration and ultimately wellness for the people we work with.

When: Join for either the evening series commencing on Tuesday evening 4 September from 18h00- (latest) 21h00 OR a morning series starting Thursday 6 September from 09h00-12h00. The series consists of 5 lectures.
